“Where could anyone find the food to feed them here in this deserted spot?”
“How many loaves have you got?” Jesus asked them.
“Seven,” they replied.
So Jesus told the crowd to settle themselves on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves into his hands, and with a prayer of thanksgiving broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people . . . they ate and were satisfied.
Mark 8:4-8 Phillips Translation
You have finally received that check in the mail and it is smaller than you had hoped, will it be enough? You have just received the seven loaves, those things in life that are disappointing, they cause us to worry and doubt, be it love, money, forgiveness or hope. Look at the small seven loaves in your Master’s hands, how will they be enough? Now look into the eyes of your Master, can you see them? Eyes that pierce your heart with warmth and love, and you know He loves you. Jesus was a master at taking things that seemed small or inadequate and turning them into so much more. Look at the seven loaves that fed four thousand people, the plain and simple 12, that became powerful men of God, simple faith that was made great by the touch of the Master’s hand and finally that simple loaf and cup, that would be for the forgiveness and healing of al the people of the earth.
If Jesus can do all of these things what makes you think that He can not, or will not help you. Look once again into those eyes, you are special, you belong to the Master, if He will do so much for strangers, how much more He will do to one as special to him as you. Just sit down on the ground, look at the seven loaves and watch the master work.
This is what he does, this is why he came. As you think of that infant, laying in the manger remember, he came for you. . . Merry Christmas.
