“If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10 The time of Lent is here. It is a time to praise and reflect. It is a time to turn inward and take inventory of my thoughts and actions. The passage from Isaiah brings to mind that I have heart work to do. Cleaning out the cobwebs, dusting in places I have ignored. Yes, it will take some time to do my “spring cleaning”, at least forty days. I do realize that Christianity is much more than blowing off the dust and moving on with my day. Christianity is about making a commitment and maybe paying dearly for it. Jesus gave us the example of such a commitment. Can you, will I, act out of compassion and love toward family, friends and enemies, even if it cost me my opinion and my way, you know, of being my own God? Pastor Carol
